Basically SEO search engine optimization is optimizing your website or blog for the search engines so they rank you high in their results (Page 1) and you get lots of traffic. Sounds easy right? Well, not quite unfortunately. SEO optimization can be a changing jigsaw puzzle, you put a piece down and the picture changes on it. There are so many aspects to SEO but here are the foundations:

Choose keywords that you can rank for – you want High traffic and low competition but don’t be scared of competition. With the right tools you can actually take on a high competition keyword if you have done your competitive research and know you can optimize your site better than just 1 or 2 on the front page.
Understand your competition and research what you have to do to be ranked above them – how many links, quality of links, keyword usage in Title, PR of the site they are on etc.
Use your main keyword in your Title, Keyword Tags, Description and several times on your page (or site)
Use LSI keywords sprinkled through out your page / site
BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS, BACKLINKS – Did I mention backlinks? You want a VARIETY of quality backlinks with different anchor text linking to your site.

Yahoo search: Type this into the search box: “link:url.com” << you don’t need quotations. the url.com is the url you want to find the backlinks for. Do this for each of the 1st page results for Google. This will give you all of the backlinks for each site.

GoRank Keyword Density Analyzer – Free tool. This is handy for competition analysis or to find your own keyword density.

The key to any internet marketing success is traffic. Without traffic you can’t make sales, you can’t get opt ins, no one reads your time consuming written content, click on your affiliate links… get it? You need to get traffic!
